Boris and the Cat and the missing key

Saturday June 21, 2008

Yes, the cat is still in our house. We are in constant back and forth contact with the next door neighbour about who is in the house when , and checking all the rooms if any doors are left open and where the cat might be and getting in to theoretical discussions about food and litter use. Last but not least, she is borrowing a raccoon trap to set up in the bathroom...

Boris the finish carpenter came to work in the house today only to call us to let him in. It would seem as though one of the trades has walked off with the key. Despite calling around, the recent trades (elec & hvac) claim to not have the key on them. We borrowed a deadbolt from a good friend (who conveniently has these sorts of things in her basement) so that we now have a new lock in place.

Boris been working in the house all day, so we stopped in after 5pm or so. Now we are down to only 2 keys, Boris has one and the other had to go to the neighbour. She's determined to check that trap every hour on the hour, I think!

Anyway, Boris put in almost all the door handles. In our case, we put levers in just about everywhere, but knobs in the basement to save a few dollars. They look fab, IMHO.

Andreas also cracked open the panel to check out the work. The independent Electrical Safety Authority Inspector is due early next week...his report goes to Toronto Hydro who we then have to call to request hook-up as soon as possible.
